Sunday Morning Coffee Talk is a personal note from me, Beardog Cafe’s co-founder and owner, to you. This weekly series will include pet-talk mixed in with my own musings, reflections and always a shared recipe for paw-parents, sometimes for dogs. I’ll find some for cats, too. Enjoy!
Tea is made and I’m lounging in bed. Sometimes it’s coffee. But lately it’s been tea. Actually, today it’s lemon tea with honey and a teaspoon of homemade elderberry syrup. Gotta stay healthy, especially now. My dog is lying beside me, snoring, and I’m doing one of the things I love to do most: reflect, write and share. Where to begin?
How about, crazy week(s), hey? Unbelievable catastrophe met with unbelievable community spirit and compassion. At least we are finding some balance in this unknown territory. I really do hope the compassion we are showing each other now remains long after this pandemic has eased out of our lives, or eased into a manageable part of our lives. Wouldn’t that be great?
You know what else would be great? Baking. Sunday and baking are a perfect match. Last Sunday, I baked my favourite, best-ever vanilla cake. I swear by it and once you make it, you will, too. Surprisingly, it’s made without butter, and it’s the best tasting vanilla cake I’ve ever had. Try out the recipe, Ricardo’ Best Ever Vanilla Cake, and see for yourself.
Now, on to our four-legged friends. Looking for brain-games to keep your doggos occupied during this stay-at-home-during-COVID19 period? Scramble rolled up socks or pieces of material on the floor. Keep it to about five square feet or less. Toss in some treats or kibble and let your dog hunt for their snacks. This will stimulate their minds and provide sensory socialization. Meanwhile, you can sit back, sip your coffee and enjoy your cake.
Happy Sunday, friends.
Stella
P.S. I take no responsibility if your fur-ball eats your socks instead of treats…:P
P.P.S. The “s” on my keyboard is stuck. You may find a few typos becuae of it. ee what I mean?!
